A2 Summer Work

A2 PHOTOGRAPHY
SUMMER PROJECT 2013

The summer holiday provides a great opportunity to significantly add to and improve your bank of photographic imagery, extending your portfolio.  This will form a rich base for exploring alternative and experimental techniques for your A2 Unit 3 work in the autumn and your final personal study.

1.   Visit at least 2 galleries or exhibitions that will feed ideas or new approaches to work. Include abstract/experimental  art and photographic work.
2.   Collect plenty of visual and written reference material - catalogues, brochures, postcards etc.
3.   Make notes and sketches when you are at exhibitions.  (Include information on ideas, concerns, themes of the work, size, tehniques, materials used as well as some thoughts about the curation of the exhibition.)
4.    Write a 500 word review linking possible photographic investigations to the exhibition work.
5.   Consider ideas for your personal study for Unit 3 block 3 (12 week visual investigation with a written essay).
6.   Take 4 x films/digital exploring some of the ideas arising from the exhibitions and potential ideas for your study.  Include black and white work.  Your films can be on one main idea concerning a chosen theme or four very different ideas.

7.   Bring everything to your first lesson in the autumn term.          Enjoy the holiday!
