Waiting for Tear Gas 1999-2000 by American artist Allan Sekula chronicles emerging forms of global activism, providing a more nuanced representation of such protests than the stereotypical images prevalent in the media.
Sekula was a renowned photographer, theorist, photography historian and critic. Since the early 1970s his work has fundamentally challenged and shifted perceptions about the role of photography both within the context of the visual arts and as a documentary medium.
