Saul Leiter at the Photographers' Gallery, London

A retrospective of Saul Leiter (1923-2013). Leiter first became a fashion photographer but his work, encompassing street life, portraiture, still life, fashion and architectural photography, is as category-defying as his style – often contrasting blurred movement with the architecture of the city – is trailblazing. Leiter is massively influential in the worlds of photography and cinema – Todd Haynes, in particular, cites him as an influence on his films, including 'Carol'.
